What would you do if you could get an extra 40 hours per month? Would you write a book? Take on a new client? Spend time with your family? Well, for individuals who spend an average 40 hours per month commuting to and from work, this technology could make that difference in your life.
A new company by the name of Virtual Human Interaction Lab out of Stanford University is working on a revolutionary virtual reality, which would allow individuals to simply put on a headset and work from home, while still technically being present in the office. When you put on your headset, you are able to interact with individuals who are in the office, while you are sitting in the comforts of your home.
While there is a lot of work to be done before this type of work environment will be sustainable, Virtual Human Interaction Lab has been making a lot of progress and is determined to make this sustainable. For individuals who spend two hours a day, or more, commuting to work, this would be a dream come true in terms of productivity. For a driver who does spend two hours a day commuting, that is 10 hours per week, and 40 hours per month! Just imagine would you could accomplish if you had an additional 40 hours per month. Additionally, this technology could also potentially be expanded to include the ability to work in different states, without having to move, or in different countries. The possibilities are endless!
