Global Satellite Internet

Global Satellite Internet

What exactly is global satellite internet, and how are we going to achieve this? Global satellite internet provides internet access through communication satellites. Currently, satellite internet does not provide as fast services as cable or telephone line internet providers, but technological visionaries such as Elon Musk is working toward changing that. Elon Musk has taken on some pretty incredibly projects in the past, and his goal to create a global satellite internet will likely bring out the technology rather quickly.

Elon Musk’s space based enterprise has just begun an ambitious step toward this goal with the plan Starlink. Starlink has a goal of creating essentially a satellite constellation, which will compromise of 12,000 satellites. Two satellites of the group went up recently, which makes a total of six in all for the growing constellation. If successful, Starlink will become the largest broadband network ever created. These satellites would all be synchronized with one another in order to beam down internet connectivity to Earth, creating a global satellite internet.

Global satellite internet promises not only greater speeds and a much lower latency rate, but better communication between the continents. Rural areas, especially those in developing countries, have a very difficult time accessing current internet technologies. Global satellite internet could be the first way to truly connect everyone on Earth.
