Depending on where you live, the average cost of owning a home can be prohibitive for many individuals. In developing countries, owning a home can be just a fantasy for some. New Story, a technology company out of Silicone Valley, has spent the past few years creating a 3D printer large enough to build an entire home. The goal of the company is to bring affordable housing options to third world countries where a place to lay your head may not be a luxury some can afford.
The company began this project with a few goals in mind. They wanted to decrease the cost of building a house, and find a way to increase the speed in which a home would be created. After years of development, New Story has created a massive 3D printer that will soon have the ability to produce an entire four-room house in less than a single day! The printer has been named the Vulcan, and can create this four-bedroom house for just $4,000.00. Currently, the 3D printer can create a substantial amount of the designed home, but still needs some small assistance along the way.
New Story doesn’t want to stop here. They want to continue to decrease the cost of the homes they can produce with this 3D printing technology, and increase the speed and efficiency in which the home is built. Currently, the 3D printer can create a substantial amount of the designed home, but still needs some small assistance along the way, but the company is close to relying solely on that 3D printer.
