You’re fired and Drain the Swamp expressions: VA Head David Shulkin to be fired by Pres. Trump. He reportedly wasn’t going to
stand for another ethics scandal and a mounting rebellion within another agency—in this case, the Department of Veterans Affairs. Shulkin is the second Cabinet Secretary to depart over controversies involving expensive travel, and not enacting important resolutions for veterans care. With Trump’s “you’re fired” phrase and the “drain the swamp” mantra, it might be time for the MERIT ACT legislation to take off. Introduced last year, Republicans might get it through as a legislative goal this year. The Modern Employment Reform and Transformation Act, HR 559, makes it easier to fire federal employees who otherwise think they are tenured. An employee is
given a letter that he’s a target for termination, then he can appeal, and the MERIT Systems Protection Board decides…within 30 days.
Celebrities behind the Anti-gun march: Many high school and college age students say they don’t know all the threads of the gun control issue, but they think they know the solution: just blame the NRA. They also blamed their parents for not understanding
Democracy in the digital age, and they blamed the police, (for something Nicholas Cruz did all by himself.) The students didn’t however, blame school authorities for insisting on schools being gun-free zones. Some students also said that they joined the March for Our Lives because their favorite celebrity was going to be there, and they believed the celebrity’s views on things A few of the well-known celebrities who showed up included: Reese Witherspoon, Paul Simon, and Sir Paul McCarthy. Yet, after the march, the students returned to gun-free schools, which remain soft targets. On an issue with such emotion (and celebrities), why hasn’t the issue of gun-free zones been addressed?

Cavity police at dental offices! Almost all states have laws that dictate certain professional groups report cases of suspected child
abuse and neglect. Add to that physicians, teachers and social workers . . . now, dentists. In this regard, a mother shared a letter on
FaceBook from a dental office called Smiles 4 Keeps in Bartonsville, Pennsylvania. It informed her that if she did not make a dental appointment for “regular professional cleanings” for her child, she could be charged with “dental neglect.” Citing a law called Pennsylvania Act 31 on child abuse recognition and reporting, the dental office threatened to report the mom to state authorities, if she did not schedule an appointment. Where are the parameters for reporting child abuse?
